SUMMER INTERNSHIP IN DALLAS
After multiple interviews during my spring semester, I was offered an internship position with WFAA in Dallas, Texas. I started off with producing shifts with Sandra Turner on Midday. I shadowed, boothed, timed and wrote pieces in the shows for a few weeks. Then during my fourth and fifth week, Sandra let me take a shot with 11:30-12 portion of the show. I stacked, wrote, produced, boothed, timed and killed content from start to finish.
Then, I began doing some reporter shifts with Daybreak and Nightside. For three weeks, I came in to work with reporters on field (and in-house) stories. I had the opportunity to chime in on interviews and shoot my own standups at these scenes. I also ended up on a couple breaking news shoots!
During my final weeks at WFAA, I went back to Midday to work with Sandra again on the producing side of news.
